The Istituto Musicale di Lucca was founded by Giovanni Pacini in 1842. The current headquarters of the Music Institute dedicated to "Luigi Boccherini" is in Piazza del Suffragio. Besides the training and improvement courses, it organizes important musical seasons in the Suffragio Auditorium with some of the most renowned musicians of the international scene, and it participates, with their orchestra, to many events in collaboration with other insititutions and city associations.
