Just outside the walls, there is the Serchio river park and the environmental education centre "Parole d’oro" that combines nature and history, located near the Nottolini Aqueduct. The project was completed in 1851 thanks to the Duchess of Lucca, Maria Luisa of Bourbon, by the architect Lorenzo Nottolini. The peculiarity of the place is due to the beautiful green area surrounding it: woods and long routes in nature, for walkers or cyclists, lead to the discovery of the territory.
